The market was already spending on similar products but a large number of customers had the following complaints; the existing products dissolved quickly and became soggy so there was a lot of wastage, and the existing products also dried the hands.
The solution would be a product that was resistant to water (to avoid wastage) and gentle on the hands. The product was enhanced with an antibacterial agent and real lime juice to boost the grease-cutting ability of Clean Up.
After 18 months of trials and testing, Clean Up was launched in
October 2003.
