Ergi Bikaver Red Wine

The wine-district of eger
The world famous historic wine district of eger is situated in the northeastern region of Hungary, on the southern part of the bukk hills, which has a low-lime content clay-bearing, soil developed mainly on rhyolite tuff.
As for the climate, it is characterized by meager rainfall, late-coming spring season and long sunny fall. The long and wild fall is favorable for the overripening of the blue grapes that gives a unique richness to eger red wines in terms of taste and aroma.
The wine-district has a world famous reputation owing to its red wines, but it has good natural endowments to produce white wines as well.
The most famous red wine is the legendary egri bikaver (bulls blood) , which is one of the internationally most well know wines of Hungary. Cabernet franc, cabernet sanvignon, merlot, blue oporto are other red wines of the district, all of which are of very high quality.
The wide range of high quality white wines italian riesling, chardonnay, muscat, ottonel, tramini include egri leanyka the characteristic white wine of the region.
The winery
The biro & sons winery was founded as a family business and it owns a private grape cultivation field in the wine region of eger.
The wines are treated in the tuff cellars and mellowed in oak casks. Besides respecting the traditional procedures, modern equipment are also used to ensure the well know excellent quality: our wines are bottled on a modern bottling line. The wines are bottled, stored and distributed after several years of mellowing in wooden barrels, thus worthy of representing the traditions of the wine district.
