Shandong Xinhua is the only producer in China for sodium stibogluconate injection,which is for Kala-azar. The injection is a colorless or light staw-colored solution. Each ampoule contains 0.5g pentavalent antimony approximately equivalent to 1.6g sodium stibogluconate. It is specific for Kala-azar by killing leishmania donovani with efficency up to 90% after one course of treatment with mild toxicity. It can be excreted rapidly.
